Symbolic meaning of Treasure in dreams:

The treasure is inner knowledge, inner wisdom, the inner spirit that connects us to the creation.

•It may represent the rediscovery of a part of yourself, something that you may have neglected or even rejected, or repressed. This is enhanced if you find the treasure in a room of your house that heretofore you didn't know existed. It can be anything that you hold as special.

Finding a treasure underground may symbolize having found some opportunity you hadn't seen before. Some ancient peoples used to bury their personal treasures underground (closer to the essence of being). It was believed that some dragons lived underground and could protect these treasures (see "Dragon Lines" above).

•Sometimes the Treasure can be seen as Yin power to the Dragon's Yang Power.

•It could symbolize what it is you're searching for in your life e.g. what you've always wanted.

•The treasure may be the whole or integrated part of you, the self-realized you, the fulfilled you.

•The treasure may symbolize the wonder or value of life.

•It could represent the spiritual you, or the soul.

If the treasure is in a cave it could mean that you are in the unconscious realm where your true self lies. The Dragon in this case could be what lies between you and your true self.

•Any thing of value in a dream such as gold, money or jewelry can also be seen as representling what you value most–in life and in yourself.

•To find what you treasure most all one needs to do is to look within with a pure heart and open mind i.e. without judgment or bias.

In Webster's definition of Treasure: any possession that is highly valued by its owner; a concentration of riches, often one that is considered lost or forgotten until being rediscovered; to care for: be fond of; be attached to; a collection of precious things.

Though by definition this can include things with monetary attachment e.g. jewels, gold, etc. The symbol of The Treasure in the book The Dragon's Treasure refers to something much less tangible. It can be misplaced, but never lost. Owned, but never held onto. You can't earn it, or spend it. It can be buried, but never destroyed. It is real but does not exist because it is intangible. It is not a thing, but is the essence of all things. All of which could suggest that if you don't know what you are looking for, or where to look, you could pass over the treasure and miss it altogether.

There is a Hindu legend about Padma The Wise, the wife of Vishnu and the Incarnation of the goddess Lakshmi who buried a treasure in a secret valley. The treasure was wisdom and knowledge. Padma also refers to the sacred Lotus flower whose unfolding petals suggest the expansion of the soul.

"There is a force within that gives you life—

Seek that.

In your body there lies a priceless jewel—

Seek that.

Oh wandering Sufi,

If you are in search of the greatest treasure,

Don't look outside,

Look within, and seek That."

Being asked by the Pharisees when the kingdom of God would come, he answered them, "The kingdom of God is not coming with signs to be observed, nor will they say, 'Look, here it is!' or 'There!' for behold, the kingdom of God is in the midst* of you."

Jesus (Luke 17:20-21 ESV)
